Live It Out with Jennifer Booth

Jun 8, 2022

When we’re thinking about life management strategies that help us get the most important things done so we can live peaceful and fulfilled lives, we often overlook the need for self-care.

There are times as Christians when we feel like we should put the needs of others before our own. In fact, in Philippians 2:3-4, we’re told, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility consider others more important than yourselves. Everyone should look not to his own interests, but rather to the interests of others.”

However, we also see Jesus take time away by Himself to rest and reflect and recharge to do what God had called Him to do.

So, how do we strike a balance between caring for ourselves and others?

My guest, Laura Howe, and I talk about the importance of taking care of ourselves so that we can live out the calling God has placed on our lives.

In this episode, we cover:

  • The need for care ministry within the church
  • How we can reframe our thoughts and accept self-care is something we all need
  • Jesus’ example of self-care
  • The value of sleep as a part of self-care
  • Physical issues that can hinder good sleep
  • Why you shouldn’t be embarrassed to talk with your doctor about sleep issues
  • 16 strategies for better sleep
  • How to use your phone to start your bedtime routine
  •
